Applications are invited from individuals and institutions working in the field of fundamental education and literacy in South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member states for this year’s Rotary SAARC Gopal-Kamala Rajbhandari Humanity Award. The Award instituted by Gopal-Kamala Rajbhandari Family — a renowned business group in Nepal — carries a purse of USD 15,000.
According to a press statement issued by Rotary District 3292 in Nepal on Thursday, applications for this Award are available at Rotary District Office Building in Thapathali, Kathmandu and all 124 Rotary Clubs spread across Nepal. For those outside Nepal, applications for the Award can be availed online and submitted at its official website — rotarysaarcgopalkamalahumanityaward.com.np – within the March 23 deadline.
The statement said the Award will be given to one individual or institution working in the field of basic education and literacy in the Rotary spirit of ‘Service Above Self’. The Award ceremony will take place amidst a special function in Kathmandu on May 16.
In 2010, the Gopal-Kamala Rajbhandari Family made generous donations to establish Gopal-Kamala Rajbhandari Rotary Award of Vocational Excellence to honor distinguished contributions made by individuals or institutions or group within Nepal through their own profession and businesses. The national-level Award to be awarded biannually carries a purse of Rs 1 million.
The statement said the Rotary SAARC Gopal-Kamala Rajbhandari Humanity Award was established with the aim to recognize distinguished contributions made by individuals or institutions for the cause of humanity even beyond Nepal.
