On 3rd & 4th Jan 2020, Rotaract club of Dharan Ghopa along with our sponsoring club Rotary Club of Dharan Ghopa, NMSRA, Bhojpur Sunsari sewa samaj Dharan organised a multidisciplinary free mega health camp under Community Service Avenue,Health sevice SubAvenue in the premises of Hatuwagadhi municipality primary health care centre situated in ghodetaar , the rural part of Bhojpur district, Hatuwagadhi Municipality for the marginalised and needy people.
It is one of the major project of Rotaract Club of Dharan Ghopa in alliance with Rotary Club of Dharan Ghopa and B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences which is done on an annual basis with “Suswasthya” live long:Mega Health Camp “being one this year. Apart from the vital bodies mentioned above, the camp was conducted in co-ordination with:
• Hatuwagadi municipality
• NMSRA,Dharan
• Barah Group
•Hatuwagadhi municipality PHC, Bhojpur
• Red cross society BPKIHS
A total of 21 doctors, including superspecialist consultants from various 10 departments of BPKIHS and intern doctors along with 2 nursing staffs and 40 rotaractors left BPKIHS and headed towards the target area at around 3:00pm on 2nd january . They had 2 buses for the volunteers and doctors and for all the necessary equipment for the project upto chatara then they travelled on boat for 30 min in saptakoshi river which has been a wonderful experience then they took bolero to reached the destination that is Ghodetaar bhojpur at around 8pm on sameday. All the Volunteers and doctors were arranged to have dinner .
On 1st day : Healthcamp started with formal welcome program at 8 am .Villagers welcomed us with ‘dhakako dosalla’ after that they did their respective works. Despite of unfavourable weather conditon they successfully conducted the healthcamp on day one. They got valuable support from the hospital staffs and Famale community Health Volunteer(FCHV) and villager and programm lasted till 5 pm. They had campfire at night where each one of them were enjoying the moment, forgetting the hectic schedule then they moved to their hotel to take rest.
On 2nd day : They went on a trip to GADHI early in the morning and took beautiful photographs of himalayan ranges and natural scenarios which was their small effort for promoting visit nepal 2020. After returning from gadhi they conducted healthcamp from 9 am to 2 pm .
At last they had a farewell programm where villagers provided them with fulmala, token of love and some gifts. They took group photo with all doctors, volunteers and organizing committe.
They left form ghoretaar at 3pm and reached BPKIHS at 7pm. During this 2 days of mega healthcamp 1165 patients were provided free health checkup and medicine.
They provided following services at their camp:
•OPD service for medical and dental department (Total 10 department)
•free drugs as per prescription
•Prescription counselling
•Pessari placement in patients with uterine prolapse
•Ultrasonography
•ECG
• Dental extraction and other dental procedures.
• Free distribution of Albendazole
• Blood grouping
• Minor surgeries
• Blood Sugar measurement
The most common illnesses that were presented were uterine prolapse in females, skin problems specially scabies which may be due to lack of sanitation, gastrointestinal problems, joint pain along with other orthopedic related problems followed by dental problems (caries and extraction procedures). They provided pessaries to all females presented with uterine prolapse. During the diabetic screening, 21 were found to be in risk for diabetes mellitus and 43 people were in the risk of hypertension.
The program was a major success with an applauding response from the residents of that area around and they expressed their gratitude by asking them for a similar camp every year to the best of our convenience.
